LinkedIn sourcing with AI.

Updated 16 October 2026

AI won’t find candidates for you on LinkedIn. What it does well is the thinking around the search: alternative job titles, cleaner Boolean, and outreach that gets past the first line. Here’s the routine.

The steps

01

Brainstorm the titles people actually use

“List 10 job titles people in Australia use on LinkedIn for a role that does [summary]. Include common variations and abbreviations. Say which are more senior.”
02

Build the Boolean string

Use our Boolean generator or this prompt, then test it. LinkedIn’s search supports AND, OR, NOT, quotes and brackets, but the exact rules differ between LinkedIn products, so check LinkedIn’s own help for the one you use.

“Write a LinkedIn Boolean search for these titles and must-have skills. Exclude recruiters and students. Keep it under 300 characters and explain each part.”
03

Sense-check the results

Scan the first page of results. If they’re off, adjust one thing at a time. Don’t paste people’s profiles into a tool that isn’t approved for personal information.

04

Write outreach that sounds like a person

“Rewrite this InMail so it’s under 80 words, mentions one specific reason this role might suit someone like them, and ends with an easy yes or no question. Friendly, Australian, no exclamation marks.”

Add the personal detail yourself. That’s the bit that gets replies.

05

Keep it fair

Don’t filter on photos, names, graduation years or anything that stands in for age, gender or background. Search on skills and experience.
