Guides that cover Gemini

How can recruiters use Gemini?

  • Turn hiring manager intake notes into a first draft of a job ad, then edit it yourself
  • Build and explain Boolean search strings for LinkedIn, job boards or your ATS
  • Rewrite outreach messages for a passive candidate, in your own voice
  • Summarise a de-identified CV or your interview notes into a short shortlist summary
  • Draft a structured interview plan with competency-based questions for a role

Check every output before you use it. AI can make things up, miss context and repeat bias from its training data, so keep a person in charge of every hiring decision.

Privacy: candidate personal information

CVs, contact details, interview notes and assessment results are personal information under the Australian Privacy Act 1988, and some of it, like health details, is sensitive information. Before entering any of it into Gemini:

  • Use a business or enterprise plan your organisation has approved, not a personal or free account.
  • Check the plan’s data controls: whether your content is used for model training, how long it’s kept and where it’s stored.
  • Tell candidates how you use AI in your privacy notice, and only use their information for the purpose they gave it.
  • When you can, remove names and contact details first.

For work use, ask your Google Workspace admin which Gemini data protections apply to your account. The Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) publishes guidance on using commercially available AI products. This isn’t legal advice.
